Starting from a semantic analysis of the term “dematerialisation”, a key element of the Digital Administration Code (CAD) that came into force on 1 January 2006, and considering other evidence, the article aims to focus on the environmental impact of digital technologies. This issue is also relevant for cultural heritage professionals but still neglected in the recent National Plan for the Digitisation of Cultural Heritage (PND).
