The article provides an overview of the project MeMo - Memory of Montecassino (winner of the PRIN 2020 call - CUP H33C22000060001), aimed at the knowledge and enhancement of the ancient manuscript and printed heritage preserved at the Abbey of Montecassino. After an introduction dedicated to the description of the rich heritage of manuscripts, medieval documents and ancient printed books produced and/or preserved at the Benedictine monastery, the objectives of the project are presented. These are the result of the many years of experience gained by the team of the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio in the field of research on the Cassinese manuscript production and teaching related to manuscripts and ancient books. MeMo’s starting point is the digitisation and digital cataloguing of the Cassinese heritage, the detailed workflow of which is provided. Also described are the tools and technologies used, aimed at long-term preservation and the widespread dissemination of images and descriptions (e.g. FITS, DOIs). In particular, we focus on IIIF technology, used for the management of digital images in MeMo thanks to the collaboration and innovative experimentation of DBSeret, a technological partner with extensive and qualified experience in the field of manuscript image processing.
