L'authority work nel sistema dei beni culturali ecclesiastici
The census of the cultural heritage of ecclesiastical institutions (dioceses and cultural institutes), coordinated by the National Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage and Religious Buildings of the Italian Catholic Bishops’ Conference (CEI), takes place in compliance with the descriptive standards of the sector (historical, artistic, architectural, archival, library and photographic heritage). Even the authority work, inherent to the cataloging activity, respects this choice. However, to ensure the cross-domain integration and consultation of databases on the BeWeB portal, the authority work model adopted manages the entire life cycle of authority records, from the production in the cataloging management softwares used by individual filing bodies up to BeWeB, going through reconciliation processes that uniquely identify the entity and the resources connected to it.
