Metadata allow the access to a wide variety of cultural heritage resources madeavailable through repositories, digital libraries and catalogues. Usually takingthe form of a structured set of descriptive elements, metadata assist in theidentification, location, processing, tracking, preserving, sharing and retrieval ofinformation, while facilitating content and access management. However, lowmetadata quality, such as the lack of mandatory information, incorrect infor-mation or inconsistency, is still an open issue in many repositories. In this paperwe present our ongoing work aiming at automatizing the metadata qualityanalysis, and the preliminary results on metadata completeness for themetadada national aggregator CulturaItalia.
