Europeana: serving the future of the European Cultural Heritage

Europeana is a European Union initiative aimed at supporting the digital transformation of the cultural heritage sector. Europeana’s mission is to develop skills, tools and strategies for European cultural heritage institutions so that they are able to embrace the changes taking place in the digital world by fostering innovation. In this brief account, the author outlines news regarding the most recent evolutions of Europeana, which over the years has gone from being a portal and then a platform to becoming a data space so as to better serve the future of European cultural institutions.
